CMCA (K-6)

Cheyenne Mountain Charter Academy’s elementary school educates over 700 children each year. Founded in 1995, it is one of the most established charter schools in the state of Colorado. CMCA was named “Best of the Springs 2011” in the Colorado Springs Gazette and has been rated an “Excellent School” by the Colorado Department of Education every year since the School Accountability Report’s inception in 2003. CMCA has also been a winner of the "John Irwin School of Excellence" each year of the program’s existence.

Parents choose CMCA because they are looking for a school that provides a coherent, incremental, and content-rich curriculum that challenges their children to excel. CMCA provides this atmosphere using the Core Knowledge® Sequence and Direct Instruction methodology. Students are taught in a fast-paced, highly interactive, teacher-directed manner and are constantly challenged to reach their potential as they move through achievement groups. Parents are also attracted to CMCA’s emphasis on character development. The mission of CMCA is to help develop citizens who are not only intellectually astute, but also strong in character. Character is emphasized within the classroom and modeled by our students and staff.
